Dear Santa…and other manifestation techniques
Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate. Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season no matter what you celebrate, and this year, the complexity of how we celebrate. Just wanted to squeeze in a post to share a technique I suggested to a client in a coaching session earlier this week.
First, a quick reminder of the basic tenet of Neville Goddard’s Law of Assumption, the foundation is in leveraging the power of your imagination to visualize and feel the outcome of your desires, also what he referred to as “feel it real”. This is a key element taught to him by his teacher. If you care to further understand check out the “You are in Barbados” lesson.
So the technique…. this client is very new to the law of assumption, we have only begun coaching sessions about 3 weeks ago, but he is really kicking ass at it. I am so impressed at his ability to grasp the concepts, catch his thoughts, and flip them. He contacts me regularly to share these mini victories of catching his thoughts, but more importantly- how quickly he is seeing things turnaround in his life. I’d say it’s a Christmas miracle, but it’s not. In the spirit of the season, let’s just say, we know he is the Santa of his reality!
Each client is unique in how they grasp the teachings and apply them. This is part of my coaching process- understanding how you speak to yourself so I may find examples that you can grasp and leverage to apply to your manifesting lifestyle.
When discussing the power of imagination to leverage the “feel it real” approach to help him achieve a longstanding goal that he has a great deal of resistance around, I used the example of writing a letter to Santa in his manifestation notebook. We reviewed how it felt as a child to just have absolute faith that all those things you hoped, wished, and dreamed for would find their way under the tree because you wrote a letter to Santa. Then the weeks leading up to Christmas, you had unwavering beliefs and you talked excitedly to your classmates, siblings, and anyone who would listen that you are going to get exactly what you wish for. And even if you didn’t get everything, you still held the same faith and absolute trust in Santa. Come next Christmas season, you would repeat the cycle: letter to Santa, unwavering faith in your belief that you will get everything on your list, and imagine yourself with your wished gifts under the tree come Christmas morning. Rinse, repeat every year until you learned that it was your parental figures who had the job of being Santa and you just pestered them for everything you wanted.
Okay, so having faith in your ability to bring into your life all that you desire is quite similar to writing a letter to Santa. I advised my client to write a letter to Santa, just like he did when he was 6 years old, with the same excitement and imagination as he did then asking for his presents. To be truly clear on what he wants and holding the excitement and enthusiasm, and imagine he has the thing he is affirming for.
Further, I advised him to write it in his mindset and manifestation journal. This is another technique that is helpful for clients and me. There is something powerful about writing out your new stories, and connecting the pen to paper with your dreams, goals, and desires. Writing it down helps you get clear on what you want- no hot and cold, and that clarity solidifies it, allowing you to be clear and authentic about your truths.
Personally, I have tried a variety of techniques- recording my affirmations and listening to them, typing them in an app on my phone, and even writing them in lipstick on the bathroom mirror, etc. I’m sure there are many who find these techniques effective; however, for me, it is the blue and white composition notebook I purchased from the dollar store that I use and refer to the most. Yes, the art of writing down and being absolutely clear in paper and ink about what I want has been powerful. Many clients say the same.
Another benefit of the notebook, I have used this technique personally and advise clients to do the same… when there are times you feel stuck, return to the “magic” notebook to read your truth over again. The journal becomes your source of truth.
And I’ll share another of my favorite personal techniques, when ego flares up, feeling stuck and can’t quite think clearly, you can quiet the ego and any negative talk by telling it that your truth is in your journal. I have personally told my ego… “Not today, Satan! It’s in my notebook and that book is my truth. Read my notebook.” That sounds silly, but my subconscious and conscious mind now know, without hesitation, that the notebook is my truth. So we all agree in kind that MY TRUTH IS IN THE NOTEBOOK! The trigger quickly subsides….every time.
In short:
Use your imagination to visualize your desired outcomes and feel it real. If necessary, relive moments of magic in your life, like writing letters to Santa or believing in the tooth fairy to help you return to that magical space of absolute imagination, and belief in your desires come true.
Determine which tools and techniques work best for you. This is incredibly personal- what one swears by another may find ineffective. Keep trying until you find your sweet spot.
Get clear on your “new story/stories” so you can be absolutely clear in your assumptions and affirmations. This allows you to be 100% in what you want showing up, so when what’s happening outside of you is not aligning, you will know this is when you persist in your assumptions and affirming.
Whatever tools you use, read what you’ve written to continue to solidify your desires, and preferred outcomes.
When your ego flares up, you can refer to what you’ve written to help you work through any triggers. Think of yourself as a character from Harry Potter and you are working on your own book of magic, creating your incantations and techniques to wield your magical creator powers.
